Wild Magic (Poem and Updates)

I think I know what wild magic feels like:
like creation fighting to escape the body;
a need that ricochets against bone and vein.

This chaos simmers, building just below
dishes and errands, routines and calculations,
growing restless the longer it remains unfree.

It is pressure that threatens to rip one apart,
stitch by stitch; crushing the self from within
if not channeled into invention, creation, poetry.

September Updates

Hello friends! Sorry again for the prolonged absence. I’ve been doing some writing and life restructuring (all good things), but that has taken up a lot of my time and energy. Thank you so much for continuing to subscribe and support my work.

Website Update
My newsletter website is now being hosted by Ghost, which is an open source blog and newsletter platform. If you are reading this in an email, nothing will have changed on your end except that I will no longer be posting on Substack.

So far, I’m enjoying the features of Ghost! The biggest benefit is that my site is now a lot more customizable, and functions as an independent website instead of a subpage on a platform. It does require a paid subscription plan to use, unlike Substack. However, if I decide to introduce payment tiers to my content, Ghost does not take a percentage of commissions whereas Substack takes ten percent (10%). I’ll try to give a more detailed update about what I like or don't like about Ghost in a few weeks as I learn more about how everything works.

Paid Tier/Tip Jar
I may introduce a $5 paid subscription tier for my newsletter, but the type of content I post now will continue on the free subscription tier. I’m also looking into the option of adding a tip jar or kofi to my posts. I would only add a paid tier, or a tip jar, as an option for any of you who really want to contribute monetarily to support my writing. However, not everyone can do that and that is okay—please only ever give to support my work if you have the extra funds to do so. No matter what, I am beyond grateful to all of you for being here in community as I grow as a writer.

I would love to read your thoughts on the new website, paid subscriptions/tip jar, or anything you feel like sharing about life in general. You can reply to this newsletter directly from your email or leave a comment to this post on my website.

Be well, and don’t let the bastards grind you down,

Kerri
